Philosophy

Signpost works holistically with individuals who are Deaf or hearing impaired and who have additional complex needs. The team at Signpost has extensive training in both Deaf awareness and Deaf culture. This enables staff members to have a good understanding of the needs of Deaf people.

At Signpost we have a signing policy and it is expected that whilst staff are on duty they use BSL (British Sign language) at all times.

The Signpost philosophy is to work with children and young adults to prepare them for a more independent life. As a result of the team's specialist knowledge and skills,  individuals are supported to manage their own behaviours and to feel confident to take control of their own lives.

At Signpost, the use of resources, the environment and the staff training programme are all adapted and designed around individual need to ensure young people realise their full potential.
