Appledore

Appledore Farmhouse is a three bedded home for Deaf young adults aged 16-25 who have additional complex needs including hearing impairment or deafness, autistic spectrum disorder, ADHD and challenging behaviour.

The house is in a rural location, but close to the M5 and local towns of Tiverton, Exeter and Wellington.  The home provides spacious bedrooms and the communal space includes a lounge, dining room, kitchen and two bathrooms. 

The team at Appledore consists of carers who have considerable experience in working with Deaf individuals who have emotional, behavioural and mental health needs. All have special communication skills including British Sign Language. Their knowledge of Deaf culture and the needs of Deaf people places them in a unique position to deliver this highly specialised service.

 
The ethos of the home is to provide a stepping stone to a more independent life.  Individuals are supported to learn daily living skills and be emotionally ready and confident to move into a more independent setting within an agreed timeframe.

Appledore was awarded the highest possible rating at it's first inspection.
